Bad news: I have left New York and no longer physically work across the street from Sad Panda’s stomping grounds.
Good news: HE’S BACK.
But miracles do happen, people, and as of today he has returned! And it looks like he even got himself a new set of hands.

Noticeable differences:
- Besides the hands, I think he’s now got a sign that’s leaning against the dark green cylinder, probably explaining to tourists you *should* pay to get photographed. Maybe a suggested donation.
- I don’t see a huge Duane Reade/Daffy’s bag. Sad Panda’s traveling lighter with a small pink one. *giggle*
I kinda love this site so please keep posting comments and linking to the site.

So I’ve heard from one source that said the Panda went on vacay and then in this Gothamist article, someone speculates that he could’ve been arrested for performing without a license. Since when is dressing a little different and acting sad “performing.” I know a lot of emo kids that should been taken in, if that’s the case.
But I digress. I guess the question now is WHERE is the panda, not WHO.

i figure he’s closer to wall street if he hasn’t just up and moved on to times square, which *does* have more tourists.

Sad Panda is Thai?!
Wednesday, July 8th, 2009Michelle, who works at the Native American Museum near Bowling Green, he just informed me Sad Panda is THAI. Yup, wide noodler. Crazy! I did remember seeing a pic of him on NYMag and he was def some sort of asian, but now we’ve zeroed in.

Weather Prediction Panda
Thursday, July 2nd, 2009I’ve noticed something about Sad Panda. Every time I’ve gone out to lunch and he’s not there or he leaves sometimes between the time I get food and come back, it rains heavily.
Animals…they’re always the first to know.
Panda Not on Location
Wednesday, June 10th, 2009It seems there’s some film shooting in the area so Sad Panda was not seen at his regular spot near the Charging Bull. Aww, displacement. Has anyone seen the bear?
EDIT: Def saw Sad Panda this afternoon, along with millions of light bulbs around Bowling Green and Broadway. Anyone know what’s being filmed? A satire on Wall St. hopefully. =]
