Sketch artist Joshua Flint recently posted this painting of the Sad Panda.

Spot on.
Well folks, here he is:
Over the next few months, the Sad Panda has intrigued and fascinated New Yorkers — his short disappearance on Wall Street led a few concerned individuals to put up a missing notice, and his great makeover as Spongebob Squarepants did not go unnoticed. Turns out this Sad Panda is a 62 year old man from Guangzhou, Chen Jialing, who has now lived in the United States for many years. He confides in journalism student Michelle Tay the story of how he became Sad Panda after being forced to leave his former restaurant job.

Someone please send pics of the clearly confused bear, formerly known as panda.
thx.
Good news and bad news.
Bad news: I have left New York and no longer physically work across the street from Sad Panda’s stomping grounds.
Good news: HE’S BACK.
But miracles do happen, people, and as of today he has returned! And it looks like he even got himself a new set of hands.

I kinda love this site so please keep posting comments and linking to the site.
It’s been weeks since any sight of the panda. I’m secretly hoping he’ll appear again and this blog can continue, but I’m a little worried. Should I keep the site going?
So I’ve heard from one source that said the Panda went on vacay and then in this Gothamist article, someone speculates that he could’ve been arrested for performing without a license. Since when is dressing a little different and acting sad “performing.” I know a lot of emo kids that should been taken in, if that’s the case.
But I digress. I guess the question now is WHERE is the panda, not WHO.
tourists taking dumb photos with the charging bull – CHECK

sad panda … ???
i figure he’s closer to wall street if he hasn’t just up and moved on to times square, which *does* have more tourists.
i’m starting to have people ask me IN PERSON where the panda is so if anyone has any info, sharing is caring.
haven’t seen sad panda near the charging bull lately. he must have found greener pastures … bamboo … idk.
lily allen will have to do for now.
Michelle, who works at the Native American Museum near Bowling Green, he just informed me Sad Panda is THAI. Yup, wide noodler. Crazy! I did remember seeing a pic of him on NYMag and he was def some sort of asian, but now we’ve zeroed in.
You can read more of Michelle’s discovery here.
BTW, did anyone see him today?
